Re: MG belts
It is a matter of caliber. Post-War Nato 7,62mm x51 ammo is 6mm shorter than the wartime ammo 7,92mm x 57. It is not possible to use a MG3 Belt for 7,92mm x57.

Depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to hang one round your neck full of deact rounds, then the unusual tab end will give it away as the wrong belt.guldan wrote:Is there any difference betwwen WW2 & Bundy MG 42/ MG 3 belts, bsides one is designed for 7.92 & one for 7.62, though 7.62 does fit in wartime belts.
You can load 7.92 into 7.62 belts and vise versa.
I have used 7.92 rounds in a 7.62 link belt and vise versa in my machine guns and they run OK. But you can get problems as the 7.62 belt will hold the 7.92 round a bit tighter and you can get feed problems.

I use both belts and have had no issues. I load 8mms' and 7.62's on them, they have been flawless.
