FV432 / 38T replica
G'day
I thought this might be of interest to you all, given the discussions about converting british APC's to wartime German AFV's etc.
A big budget movie was made on the Gold Coast and other locations in Queensland called " The Great Raid", concerning a WW2 US ranger raid on a Japanese POW camp in the Phillipines. Sad fact was it was a truly awful film and in no way paid tribute to the WW2 vets or the locals who made it a successful raid.
But of interest here was that Miramax commissioned three AFV's to be made, two replica japanese tanks and one M4A3 sherman. The former converted from Gulf war veteran FV432's, and the latter from the chassis of a Grant tank.
Some local model builders and re-enactors had permission to further convert this tank into a Early war 38T, and the results were fairly credible.
If you go to this website you can see before and during photos of it.

I guess it further highlights that motivation and passion ( for an individuals at least) isn't always enough to see projects like this thru, a healthly bank balance is.
Cheers

Hi
they used two (2) brit APC's and two (2) Grant hulls to convert into the sherman. The Sherman is brilliant, very well detailed and you'd be hard pressed to think its a copy until your right next to it
