Panzer IV help!!!!!

Post by ss-commander smeders »

Hi, can someone send me a link for a tank or something i can convert into a Panzer IV, I have up to £10,000 on this! And is it possable to use a Panzer IV in the 2 Kompanie, 60 Panzer grenadier Regiment, 116 Panzer division? Because the unit was made in 1940 and the Panzer IV was in service from 1936-1945.

Thanks Ben

AFV432 with an additional road wheel will give a basic panzer 4-ish style chassis (involves buying 2, cutting them up and welding together - hope you have access to plasma cutters). Drivers position is in the wrong place though.

Running 432s are about the £4200 mark.

All you have to do then is build the turret and ring, and away you go. Easy!

do you get the feeling after all these pointless posts from you that neither me, nor indeed most poeple actually care :?:

you want a replica PzIV for 10 grand    shall we do the maths a minute, 2 432s £8400, leaving £1600 to buy all the equipment to build it, all the metal to build it, insure it, transport it, fuel and then wait years to be able to get a tracked vehicle license and then be able to drive it, yeah £1600 will go along way towards all that

Some 6" drainpipe and my sons old ride on tractor. I also have some gray card for the body. I'll do it for you at £9k. Let me know when you're 65 and have access to your money though.

Without wishing to be rude, SS-Komm Smegma, I can smell something like this a mile away. It been heard before many, many times. Smells like this:

Now you send me evidence that you have that £10k as readily available funds (i.e. you can get it now), and I'll point you in the right direction. Until then, please stop trying to hump our collective legs with ein Haufen Scheiße!

That'd be the main problem of it being cut and shut.

I suppose one could theoretically do one on the "cheap" by making parts of it out of wood and treating it with paints to give off a metalic look, but I can easily say that getting one that even looks visually like a Panzer 4 would be well over the 10k mark, even if you did a partially wooden construction like I suggested, mostly because the current price of the "donor" would be looking at £8,400 to start with, plus all the necessary bits and bobs you'd be adding from then on, you'd be looking at well above £10k, probably even with my suggestion of a partially-wooden body and turret construction.

But its just another idea of mine batting in my head for when I win the Lottery [tm]

Apart from this being another of young Smedley's childhood fantasies, to use the FV432 would not get close to getting the running gear right. MkIV had twin wheel boggies, nowt like a 432.
i think its fair to say you cant do a reasonable MkIV for £10,000. Before this becomes another rant about names given, assumed or real, shall we stop it here. Is there good reason to continue?
