Nice photograph of a camo cover; date on the photo is wrong though. Should be late '43 or '44.

Also has a wedding ring on left hand, I thought it was common to have it on the right?

There's no guarantee it's a wedding ring, generally, lots of different cultures have symbolic reasoning behind the placing of wedding rings, but thinking along military lines it's usually not good practice to have any jewelry at all.

Do they not get their dates from the info with the negatives/scratched into the leader/whatever?

If all they are doing is guessing then that calls into question every date in that picture archive... surely they wouldn't bother putting 'Summer' if they weren't even sure what the year is?

I appreciate why you are saying the year is wrong though...

Actually I have found quite a lot of photographs with questionable dates or captions. Heer labelled as SS, dates ranging from 1940-1944 while it's clearly late war, and so on. Keep your eyes open, and don't trust the captions blindly.

I believe our very own Stigroadie posted on another forum that the material used for the helmet cover is infact Hungarian camo.

This looks like Polish wz.29 carabine or Czech wz.24.

Sheikh, could you give me direct link to this picture in Bundesarchiv ? I can`t find it with their browser.
