Re: Show off your reenactment helmets!
Hey Peiper,
looks good! Is this the helmet, which was used on one of your last pictures? (you know, the white one )
Some fading and it will become really impressive!
Best regards,
Steffen

There is a bit of texture, unfortunately it can't be seen very well from the pics,Mooyman wrote:Anyway, they have the correkt colours and good job.Peiper wrote:No kamerad, it is a different one, i have two para helmets

but prior to panting i went over the lid with external "rough-cast" paint lol,
it leaves a "bitty" surface like on originals but not too rough like some ive seen

Re: Show off your reenactment helmets!
Tom try giving it a coat of flat or satin varnish. Once it's dried flat it back with a very fine sand paper. Coat it again a couple of times and you should have a much smoother finish. A good way to bring a natural shine without using ploish if you used flat farnish is to simply rub over it with your hand. The natural oils from your skin and hair give it a decent shine without making it sparkle.
Also make sure the varnish or laqure your going to use is compatible to go over the paint you used. Enamel with go over the top of acrylic/synthetic but not the other way on.

Is it for an early FJ lid? If so he does 1st pattern L/W eagle, plus second pattern...
List:

(For 1st Pattern L/W eagle go to "Museum Quality Water Transfer Decals" section of the list. Always delivers quick, great service and good decals..)
Cheers,

Totally agree with the above. Best decals by far in my opinion.

Pieper what colours did you use for the camo on your FJ lid. Like the pale green you used. Very nice looking lid.
