Nope, they're all Revell 67.

I used to mix up RAL 6006 (Dark Field Grey), but I get my RAL 6006 made up in spray tins now.

But for Light Field Grey I use Revell 67, not mixed with anything.

RAL 6003 is Olive Green, although it is hard to tell from photos on a monitor, it looks very different to the paint on these helmets when you've got them in front of you..

Howe about the ''late-war'' color often see on heeres helmets without decal( i had one in my collection)
and see on ss helmets(m42).Some say it's aged 6006.
But that color is almost black!.....
I checked the ral 9000 series for that but without a clue.

I shall look for a picture.

Yes, it is RAL 6006 for Keer/Kriesmarine plus also for Luftwaffe Fallschimjager M38's, probably the patina from the last 60 years makes them look darker now than they were back at the time of the war. For SS though, although many were RAL6006, many seemed to tend more towards a greyer shade, more grey than green, so they looked like a dark Schiefergrau/slate grey, almost black as you say.... (Possibly RAL 7015? Or RAL 7024?)

There are a few late war grey tone helmet on this website:

Hard to tell from a photo, but possibly aged RAL 6006 as you say, or more likely just dark Schiefergrau/slate grey...?

No Sir,

That colour is only used on vehicles(panzergrau),and never used as a helmet colour.

Howe about 9011? that's also a very dark-grey colour.....

Hi guys, trying to brush up on paints ..no pun intended.. can someone explain what RAL means or stands for, and,is this a British paint code system,or does this exsist in the U.S. as well? I can just picture Homedepo looking at me like I got four heads..lol.

RAL is a pre-WW2 German colour standard that is now a Europe-wide standard:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAL_color_standard

I imagine if you got a store in the US to make up a colour and asked for it by RAL name they would be able to help (certainly here in the UK you can get paint made up by RAL colour despite it not being "our" colour system), but if there are any problems you can find the nearest equivalent BS or FS colour on-line (there are various conversion charts on the 'net) and ask for that instead...

I'm getting the feeling that the dark ones are just aged ral 6006. I have seen well abused helmets that I have painted nearly 10 years ago in that color and they are slowly turning darker and darker depending on use.
