M16 Paint
I picked up a M16 this week for £45. Shell only, covered in white gloss with nothing underneath. I am looking for some paint, preferably in aerosol (RAL 7009?) Any suggestions where I can get some?
Re: M16 Paint
Strip it back first.
Undercoat it with matt black primer - car primer is good.
Then find an apple green (the fabled apple green). RAL 6002 or 6003 would be a start......
Search this forum for threads on RAL and also Wehrmacht Awards Forum..... It's a proper minefield........ Do show us the results when you get it done. Are you going to age it? And are you going to put a liner in it?

What year do you want the M16 paintjob to be?

I'll get a liner for it probably from Vit Zimanek. Which I will then "enjoy" trying to fit it. I don't fancy trying to give it a camo paint scheme rather an 1916 one colour all over job.
Re: M16 Paint
If it's any help here is a picture of my original M16
This is believed to have seen Freikorp use - If you look carefully you can see the scratched Hakenkreuz on the front quarter. It has another on the other side. It has a white pigskin liner (damaged but original to the helmet) and the rear fixing stud missing which I am told was done to help ventilate the helmet.
Purposely left it large so you can see detail. This is believed to have seen Freikorp use - If you look carefully you can see the scratched Hakenkreuz on the front quarter. In what period? As I know a lot of them were repainted in the 1930's.
