That paint works better when its used with a spray gun and then take the shine of it with rubbing compound

decalhelmet.com's paint is far better sprayed. I found it didn't brush well at all.

Interested to see how his fancy 10 euro a pop decals are - he forgot to send the glue with mine!

On the positive side to apoligise he's sent me a free decal and the glue he should have in the first place. Nice chap and good service.

His non aged Feldgrau w/Morigi decals and a layer of lacquer:

Paint comes out very matte to be honest, the lacquer added a slight sheen.

That helmet on the right looks oddly shaped, who made it?

Not a clue, couldn't tell you I'm afraid. Got it second hand/near enough free.

Oddly shaped in what way? it certainly has a steeper angle and less of a 'flat' to the front rim than my 35 does.

I think a chinese factory.
Clear to me it's a repro.

Well that's pretty clear, but who.

Compare it to your other helmet and you'll see the differences.

I allready did that many years ago.

Conclusion: Not one repro m35 looks like a real one.
That's why i don't care if it's from Sturm,hiki,spearhead,or other chinese makers.
A real shell (m35,m40,m42) would always be my personal choice.

just my 2 (euro) cents

Sorry I really can't tell you who made it, because I really don't know. Nor does it's previous owner. Its a stop-gap until I can get a genuine shell. Its primarily being used for airsoft where it is getting the shit beaten out of it, aswell as shot to f*ck ;)

I did not want to start a new topic but who can tell me the ral code
for that "reddish" camo tone.
You often see it on late war helmets...is it the primer colour wich is used as a base
on many vehicles?

RAL 8012, it's not the primer. Separate camo colour.

That's a ''blitz'' answer thanks for that.

Totally agree. Regardless of who makes a better repro they still look off compared to a nice original. Rolled edge's look flat or the shell looks strangely long, skirting is usually all wrong too.

Just finished my Kriegsmarine helmet (to sit on display). Nice original M40 shell :)

Its been a while since the last post but heres my M35, its an original SE shell with a sprayed on field grey which has had the lacquer decals from decalhelmet.com applied before an additional coating of the 'reissued grey' paint mixed with aluminium oxide git is brushed on
