Aged FJ-Werke Liner 66 shell
Here is an aged FJ-Werke liner made for an original M38 shell for display purposes! I think the quality of the liner and ageing make a very plausable replica:
This took a lot longer to age than a shell, its a real difficult one to get right!
Constructive comments welcome!
Cheers Mike

Nice job indeed. Do you sell aged chinstraps? I have an original FJ SD helmet (seifergrau paint with early spanner bolts) and the original chinstrap was cut off. I'd like to replace it with something better than a post war version.
Thanks,
Jim

Thats the thing sometimes - people see what they think they want to see and make assumptions, but rest assured no shoe polish - thats the amatuers way of doing it! LOL

Here is one aged example - they are actually darker (more black), but the flash has whitened it out, PRYM marked popper and everything 100% spot on copy - not cheap though but you want the best for a genuine FJ Helmet!:mauser98 wrote:Nice job indeed. Fair enough, your opinion is taken on board, what gives it away in your opinion?Mooyman wrote:fallschirmjaeger wrote:Well your eyes are amazing as there is no shoe polish used on it at all!!!Mooyman wrote:I am sorry but i can see it's shoe polish.

Re: Aged FJ-Werke Liner 66 shell
Is it marked so it cannot be sold as 'original'?
Is it made as a replica or as a fake?
If made as a replica it should be marked as such?

No - customer did not want this.Stigroadie wrote:Is it marked so it cannot be sold as 'original'?

Its made as a replica.
Customer has the option - in most cases markings could easily be removed or hidden!

Re: Aged FJ-Werke Liner 66 shell
How long before it or its brothers are on e-bay being sold as an original with no easy way for people to spot it.
You should as a responsible artisan include tell tales so the repros can be identified. Failing that they can only be considered fakes.
The quality of your work does you credit but could so easily be used to deceive the unwary. Without a clue to it's nature as a repro/replica you may be on unfirm ground.
You know how good your product is, how hard it would be for all but the most serious of experts to spot?
If someone gets stung and it is traced back to the maker.....due diligence? Did you take care your product could not be used to deceive?
It's tricky.

I've gone through this valid discussion a hundred times on other forums/emails so wont bore people on this forum!Stigroadie wrote:How long before it or its brothers are on e-bay being sold as an original with no easy way for people to spot it.

I'm going to paint a little 'R' in yellow underneath the liners going forward!

Re: Aged FJ-Werke Liner 66 shell
is it the resposibility of the artist ...or the seller
its only fraud if the dealer sells it as origional
if i was comisioned to work an item i would not expect to be taken to court for making a copy unless i sold it as origional ww2 era
this is in fact original ..but modern non ww2 original
can see ya point sean
i would also make a tell tale sign so it cannot be sold as ww2 era...and insist to customer the detail is staying
