but the germans weren't the best soldiers when it came to obeying regulations!
plenty of evidence of that mate.Even Josef Dietrich ignored Hitlers orders for the LAH to remove their titlecuffs. so to be accurate, some regulations will be ignored as they were in reality.
the point i'm making is that, despite the regulations, they were at times ignored, and thats the reality of it all. otherwise there would not be any evidence of it happening, i proved it by producing the photo of Bobby Woll's disregard to the regulations. so don't jump down my throat mate. i'm just revealing the truth of what happened in reality.
Regulations were followed by the SS its a Reenacting myth that they were not Bobby like many well known members of the SS could bend the rules . As for the rest they had to follow them if you care to some research you will see this fact see the photo below 5 members no using insignia to you photo of one man wearing it

Right - this is properly top of my pet hates now - German soldiers just not doing the impression correctly. If anyone in the forum has a large enough megaphone, can they please point it in the direction of the Waffen SS in the 1940s and shout really loudly to them that they're just letting the side down!
Epaulettes and arm eagles on undershirts? Epaulettes on cammo tops? Swastika armbands in the field? Fashionable knitware balanced jauntily with an army belt? WHAT ARE THESE IDIOTS DOING?
These chaps clearly have no idea what reenactors wear in the twenty first century as period correct. Don't they know that Himmler and the other high command spent all day every day training high powered telescopes at the eastern battlefields purely to ensure that no non-regulation uniform was worn? Honestly, it cheap, amateurish, a wehrmacht myth and needs to stop!

I think it's not a case of 'this was NEVER done' but more a case of 'this was NOT USUALLY done'.
Most of your photos show officers or senior ncos? Just the sort who can afford to do and get away with doing these practices. When you are tasked with buying your own uniform, as officers were, then you have more scope for the personal touch.
It would be just as wrong to adopt these as the norm for the simple soldier as it would to deny they happened.
When you find the photos of a whole zeug so adorned then perhaps we shouldn't be so guarded?
Whilst it is just the odd officer and nco we should keep it to such impressions?

Lol quite amusing

Thing is these guys who wear bling on their camo gear and the odd "un-regulation" attire are usually Officers and they can
get away with anything lol, as for the usual "stubble-hopper" the norm usually applies (oh you've beaten me to it Stig lol)

AGREED. Fusslappen can be had at almost any vendor for 3 dollars or less, cheaper than most tube socks anyway, so there is really no excuse not to have period correct foot coverings. Or even have mama or granny knit you a pair of socks from wool yarn, as if a gift from home. There really is no excuse.
