Re: Italian camo uniforms used in 116. and 130. Panzer-Division?
The use of Italian cammo by other units other than the 12th and 1st SS divisions was predominately restricted to those units serving in Italy at the time of wearing it and is not that common and usually found on an individual or small unit basis so it is not typical and there are sound reasons for this as it was Max Wunche who while still part of the LAH was sent with the rest of the division to Italy to stabilize the situation after the allied invasion, part of their job was to disarm Italian forces after their surrender being ever remorseful they also liberated vast quantities of kit too,as well as weapons and vehicles Italian cammo cloth and wool also Italian naval uniforms in the form of leather coats and trousers not long after this Max Wunche was posted to the 12th ss to help form the new division he saw an ideal use for the Italian cloth to be run up into overalls and over trousers for the new Division and the leather coats and trousers were given to the Panzer crews as a form of fire protection as well as being practical warm gear so the 12th made wide spread use of Italian camo throughout the Division and it is therefore typical of the divisions look in the Normandy campaign unlike other units in Normandy apart from elements of the 1st but mainly NCOs and not as commonly worn as in the 12th and for these reasons I would say it should be avoided for re-enactment of the 116.Panzer Division and 130. Panzer-Lehr-Division
and after the winter of 44 it became very rare to see it in the 12th and 1st SS with only parkers being seen by the end in 45

So much info in 1 sentence... WOW!!
Realy nice to read, but what are your sources?
I'd like to trust people, but in this kind of hobby people say a lot. Most of the times they bent things so they CAN wear something.
Not that I don't trust you, but just curious were I can find all this info.

Italian camo was also very popular with Polizei and Luftwaffe units stationed in Italy and the Balkans. I've even seen photos of Czech and Slovenian troops wearing Italian camo! So it must have been a very popular camo! As a side note, during the RSI-era,1943-45, it saw extensive use with the Italian fascist forces. No surprise as the camo is in fact Italian.
Anyway, here's a great thread about Italian camo; http://panzergrenadier.net/forum/viewto ... 26&t=11845

I dont want to be cruel but how does that thread help with this one?
We all know about Italian camo, some of us contributed to the thread you linked to.
This thread is about use of the camo by 116th and 130th Panzer Div. It's not about discussing the finer points of the pattern or colours.

Oh absolutly, that's why it took so long to find one.
This is a fieldmade jacket, because I think the Italians didn't had jackets of them... (correct me if I'm wrong)
The photo must be the needle out of the heastack

Yeah, the same.
That might even be a panzerkombi, seeing how he's a tanker. Never found any other 116th photos with M29.
