Here is a good link if you are still looking for German WW2 songs. It has all the English translations on it too, so no need to rely on babbelfish. It also has the tune in a streaming file so that you can listen to it and sing to yourself merrily away.

just checked this site out..seems to me they've used babbelfish on it too
because there are so many mistakes to the english version of panzerlied...
for non german speakers it's a good starting point, but take these translations with a pinch of salt lads..

There is a German propaganda film in one of the scenes, it starts with soldiers marching along the road singing Erika, the scenes than keep changing... office girls, factory workers etc all continuing the song from scene to scene.

Erika was sung by all Germans, not just soldiers.

It was written by Herms Neil in 1938.

Neil was probably the most prolific 'marching song' composer of the Nazi period, writing such songs as:-

Erika song is the favourite song of my daughter Erika (4 years old), she keeps on singing it whilst playing, although she as also been caught singing Lili Marleen.

Here are the words in Finnish, the song was sung in here as well during and after WW2.

by the way, did you realise that the tune of Panzerleid is the same as the tune the the Foreign Legion song "Kepi Blanc" !!!!
