Feldpost number for Liebstandarte units

Post by rolfwaldmann »

Hi everyone, I am attempting to sort out admin for Kampfgruppe Stahlkrieger (KSK) and I am somewhat confused as to what the Feldpost number for a kampfgruppe in the Liebstandarte would have been around the period 1944-45.

Can anyone help me with this?

Many thanks

First of all, it's Leibstandarte (sorry, that just irks me :D ). Second, a feldpost number could be assigned to a kampfgruppe, but which section of the LAH are you looking for? The more details, the easier it is to find.

Whoops, sorry, I repeatedly get that wrong. Basically KSK depicts a front line kompanie of the Leibstandarte, late war, 1944 to the war' send. Either a command section or perhaps a reconnaissance unit. Martin the group leader, wears the rank of SS Sturmbannfuhrer. We have a few feldgendarmes, a medical officer and the rest of us are grenadiers. I haven't really much more to go on than this really I am afraid.

Which Kompanie? That would be the biggest help.

Yes, sorry about that. Of course 6 Kompanie, Kampfgruppe Stahlkrieger, LAH, was not an actual unit as far as I am aware, but hopefully typically represents the kind of kompanie that would have been part of a LAH kampfgruppe at the end of the war.

Kamerad,

The Feld Post nummer for 6Kp PanzerGrenadier Regt. Nr 1 LAH was 11 150B.

I don't know for certain if individual Kampfgruppen were giving their own FP number. It seems logical to me that the elements of an individuals unit would keep the same number. The headquarters element that dealt with the units post in and out would likely have had a record of which sub-units were attached to other formations and forward any post onto them or they would hold onto the post until the until rejoined the parent formation and then distribute it to the troops depending a lot on operational circumstances.

Again that is only my thoughts and I have nothing to prove that one way or another. Hope that helps though.

Regards

A known Feldpost number for the LSSAH 3KP was 29707D, however this apparantly was changed mid War
when things became more fluid and kompagnies were downsized to Kampfgruppes so i would think this
would've happened to other LSSAH kompagnies as well, a Kampfgruppe would be designated differently
to a Kompagnie, if your kampfgruppe is fictional couldn't you make up a feldpost number ??
