Help with officers bullion collar tabs..

Post by RZM »

I have a pair of heer colar tabs in officers bullion. I believe the bullion is aluminum...there are spots where the bullion has oxidized..is there a way to clean this up? Should this worry me? They are beautiful tabs and id like them to look great. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I would leave it, looks like field wear. Can you upload a picture?

Otherwise, clean it with alcohol (but this can fade some of the colour if you get it on any cloth parts).

Unfortunately ive dropped my phone one to many times so my SD card cant be read..i have insurance and have been meaning to get a new phone. Thanks for the advice. In all honesty it does look like field wear..ive got to stop trying to keep everything pristine lol..i imagine alot of collar tabs were looking rough..my thought was officers were held to a higher standard and would bust an EM for looking shabby..but im sure it was entirely dependant on the officer and the offence. Late in the war alot of the uniform regulations were thrown by the wayside.
Danke!

One battle could ruin an officer's collar tabs, a strap rubbing on the wire thread etc. A field uniform after the Fall of France would look pretty grubby after a short time with frontline officers, Hauptmann and above...then it would probably look better, but still, metal corrosion, that can't be helped really. I'd leave it.

It's a great place here ;) I learned a lot!

Whenever you get the phone up, I would love to see such details.
