Splinter what?
Splinter what?
I know a real newbie question but what are the obvious differences between Splinter A and Splinter B?
They are allegedly an experimental pattern which was designed for use by Mountain Troops (believe that if you will). The ones used in WED are supposedly originals, and the only known examples (funny that...). There was a guy who used to make repros of this pattern, but I've not heard of him nor seen any new ones for a few years now.jimmyvonk wrote:What pattern are the padded suits in Where Eagles Dare?

Sorry for all the questions, but what are the differences?BaggyPants wrote:The pattern in splinter B is much smaller than splinter A, with subtle differences. As a certain militaria dealer tried fobbing me off with a luftwaffe jumpsmock in splinter a and i knew it was wrong but i do not know how to recognise the pattern.
Cheers.
Borsarello and Lassus [Camouflaged Uniforms of the Wehrmacht] identify the WED parka as Splinter D. They also illustrate a Splinter C which is much like tan and water but in standard splinter A colours.
Splinter B has smaller areas of green and brown splinter and they seem sharper more 'jaggy' and with fewer stretched out shapes. The density of the splinter patches is much the same, just that clusters are smaller. Hard to describe without pictures which I cant add from here.
