Curious original zelt

Post by valkyrie895 »

Gents,
I have in my possession an original zelt. It's in pretty good shape, only missing two grommets. All but a couple buttons are there. But what makes this zelt curious, is that it is actually missing 8 (yes, eight) button HOLES. WTF is that? i know it's a late war manufacture, but did germany really suck that much at the end of the war? also, the button holes that ARE on there don't line up quite right when you fold it like a poncho....
Perhaps some of the hardcore zelt guys on here can shed some light on why this is?

Are you 100% sure it is original? Sounds like a poor repo.

I have one that has no button holes. I must dig it out.
Grommets are there if I remember correctly but no button holes.
A picture would be great.

I was reading the other day about different type of zelts for radio operators? Can't remember where though maybe on WAF?

Thanks for the info stig. For the record, the grommets are torn out, not a deletion like the buttonholes.
This zelt is without a doubt original..

I will have to check later- I just folded it up and put it away so I don't really feel like un-doing everything right now :P

I am almost certain that it will, but again, I will have to try it in order to be sure=

Thanks,
