Re: Boot question

Post by Olly »

A question for anyone who has a pair of SVECs Gebirgsjager boots.

There are several options for each pair of boots - an lateral lining and to increase the thickness of the leather (2.2mm upto 2.5mm or 3mm)

Can anyone advise from experience of his products if I should get thicker leather or the lining?

Many thanks,

Olly

Thicker leather - it will hold more grease , making them more waterproof , and protect your feet better against sharp rock , and they will wear better ! Modern repros are good but don't generally make the leather uppers thick enough , and if you use them for mountaineering you'll encounter rock , snow and ice .
