many guys where too hot to wear all the kit ..including jackets
there are so many diferent scenarios to explain why the camo jacket is not worn

Re: Wearing pea-dot trousers with field grey tunic
Again it depends on the unit you portray,in your photo section you state that you are 12thSS HJ.If you look at photos from this unit, you find a mixture,in their squad photos you see them wearing DOT jackets with reed green/field grey trousers and vice-versa,maybe because there was not enough kit to go round. In others they are wearing field grey uniforms with palm smocks along with complete DOT uniforms.I have been going through my books on the Waffen SS,the only photo I have found so far is an SS Rottenfuhrer in the Ardennes of the LAH,who is wearing a field grey tunic with DOT trousers (possibly over field grey trousers to keep warm)and a water proof type coat over this, one of his comrades wears a DOT jacket over his field grey jacket. In other photos of non german volunteers, they are wearing DOT jackets and field grey trousers, the only other photo I have found with field grey tunic and camou trousers is a Danish volunteer in russia, but they are not DOT but M37 style oak leaf. From a camo point of view the upper part of your body is better covered up than your legs,so you blend in with your surroundings.John

Cheers brigardefuhrer for that reply I was about to be dragged away to the asylum if I had to explain the point again
The reason I do ask this is because of a comment that was made to me which I totally understand why the bloke said it cos it does seem strange to go out into a war zone in camo trousers without camo smock. The only picture I've been able to find is in the 'osprey' waffen-SS (2) 6. To 10. Division page 28.(D) image 2. It would be nice to find an actual picture instead of a drawing . Cheers Danny

Yes thats right, one of the group who was doing his first re-enacting event for 25years had a pair of modern boots on. This is because he cannot yet afford a good pair of good reproductions ones however, his picture has been emblazoned on many websites !
