Reading a topic on another forum I came across this rather interesting pice of information from one of the members..
...."The ribbon to the left of the bar is the Iron Cross 2nd Class. When you won the Iron Cross 2nd Class you automatically qualified for the relevant combat badge ... for cavalry that would be a general assault badge."
So bearing this in mind does this mean someone in the infantry awarded an Iron Cross 2nd class would also be awarded an infantry assault badge?

Not heard of that before. Inf assault badge awarded for three separate actions, usually.
Mind you, there are all sorts of exceptions to the rules. Martin Pöppel was awarded the EKI for just one act of conspicuous courage, rather than the usual three or four.
