Late War Paint?

Post by GR916/15/14 »

Hello,

I am getting a late war mess kit and canteen, I could get mint ones, this costs more and if I used it, it would be destroyed! I am really looking to get ones to repaint, using red and olive green. I have a standard (40 dated) mess kit I use to eat from. So having red paint inside the new one does not matter.
I can't find a match to the colour I am looking for! The dark(ish) red and the olive green/brown. Also finding the almost gloss finish on both!

I've never seen this paint for sale. Help...

Thanks,
Nathan

The red paint is usually Lead Oxide (raaaaaather toxic) known as "Red Lead" which can be replicated quite easily using red car primer (non toxic) and a good buff....... The OliveGrun has a RAL number - I think it's been bandied about on here before - I'm in the middle of administering a mass sign up of a group affiliating or I'd look it up for ya mate..... do a search on "OlivGrun RAL" and the number should show up.

RAL 6006 or 6007 was used for equipment, late war.

RAL 6003 is the lighter green you are looking for.
