HISTORY ALIVE
The hot topic on everyone’s lips right now is the changes to History Alive.
At the recent Annual General Meeting (December 2010 - Mod -), holding the event in 2011 was put to a vote. It was decided 16 to 4, that QLHF would hold a re-enactor only event in 2011, with a meeting on February 20 (tentative) to decide the viability of the event for 2012 and onwards.
How did we come to this decision?
In the past, History Alive has diverted a significant amount of time, effort and money. Unfortunately this year, it again, ran at a loss. This sparked some questions for the committee, as to the viability of the event, whether there is enough support from members and the whether the venue was right. It was unclear whether members truly wished to participate and support it in the long term, particularly if there are opportunities to develop other QLHF events, such as an annual ball.
This re-enactor only event will keep the name History Alive and will still be held in June. Currently, the venue is still to be confirmed, but we are hoping to remain at Fort Lytton. Anna-Margot Collins will be project manager for the event, but for any enquiries at this early stage, please send them to qlhf@qlhf.org.au.
We’ll send out more information as it becomes available. •
