I can't speak about authenticity as a whole, but I can add something regarding the use of Walkie-Talkies. They are used by event staff and co-ordinators to get the battle flowing the way it should, report incidents, and call up the real life medics in case an accident happens. They might be farby, but they are needed to coordinate and make sure everyone is safe.

The actual battle part of the event is held in a hilly training area that's a good way away from the barracks area (hence the busses to get from staging area to battlefield) and is located alongside other ranges.

I kinda thaught that was the case but here we use origional field phones never used walkie talkies they could atlest attempt to hide it in a period radio set and if they really do need to get a medic in there is allways a mobile to slip in your bandage pocket

The staff, medics, and co-ordinators generally have the walkie-talkies in a pocket or otherwise hidden unless they're actually in use. Someone should've probably asked the film crew NOT to film them when they were using them - for re-enactors that would've been common sense, for these film people, it's not.

Our aid station had two walkie talkies as well, that were about the size of my hand each. We just kept them in the pockets of our field jackets when we weren't using them, but we had a hard time getting any contact with walkie-talkies in that terrain to begin with. It was pretty frustrating.
