4th Winter Battle at Vojsko
Posted: Sun Feb 13, 2011 9:13 pm
For the 4th time we had recreated the winter battle between German troops and partisans at Vojsko plateau (1000 m above sea level), which was original fought in winter 1944/1945.
Last year in deep snow and dense fog, this year with + 16 degrees on sun.
Beside our club, Triglav, again our friends from Italian groups Feldgrau (with two colleagues from Germany) and Progetto 900 had joined us, and after few years our good friends, KVH Gardekorps from Prague joined us again with their secret weapon. Altogether about 55 participants, as our accommodation doesn’t allow us much extension.
Small peaceful village of Vojsko had returned back into WW2 time, seen German units marching around and even local pub was packed with German soldiers in full uniform who were drinking beer after hard training. (to be honest, Italian friends had trained very seriously under the command of two SS NCO-s).
The first day we had settled the battlefield and had some training, the 2nd day we recreated the battle itself. This year we hadn’t concentrated in movie making as last year, but we fought without any interruptions. On the hill, where partisans were located, about dozen explosive charges were layed to simulate mortars and hand grenades. But the final German secret weapon was incredible flame-thrower, brought by Kardekorps members; with about 10 m of firing range. (we named out Czech friends ‘’grillmasters’’). The pressure of flame thrower was too much for partisans and for the first time in history (of our battles) German troops won the battleground and partisans retreat, only to be back in few minutes to have a usual glass of brandy and boiled wine at nearest farmhouse.
We all enjoyed a lot a friendly atmosphere of local people, nice ‘’battle’’, a good drinking in the evening (Italians had brought again extraordinary good wine) we are looking forward to Vojsko 2012.
Here are some photos….
