Hi there,

to all of you who bought my original WW2 winter felt boots for the Finland event.
Don´t forget to use some dubbin for the boots ( also the sole!!! ) some days before you will use them in the snow. That is a better protection against snow and water.

I wish you a great time with Franz Repper in the ice cold Finland with warm feet!!!
All the best to you and Horrido!!!

Great pics, Franz! Thank you for posting them. Still without working computer so updates for www.gaissmair.net are stuck for the time being. Did you notice the guy in the first pic is wearing Lapland boots with W-SS fur anorak.

Weather forecast for Friday is -13C and snowfall, Saturday -16C and possibility of sunshine. Remember the proper footwear, gloves and scarf! Visited the campsite two days ago and consulted the local farmer about clearing the snow from the field with tractor instead of putting you guys to shovel snow to make room for the tents. He promised to think about it :) Road to HQ has been cleared (there was only 50cm snow in the road, 70+ cm behind the house..) and first sets of equipment have been carried to campsite.

Few points though:

- smoking will be allowed only in certain pre-arranged places where we have proper ashtrays
- same goes with peeing - I don't want to boil teawater from yellow snow :D
- trashcans/bags will be allocated into the camp area, absolutely no littering as we have lots of wild animals in the forest who may terrorize the camp in case there's trash lying around. All bears are (or should be) hibernating but lynx, foxes, raccoon dogs, wolves, martens, weasels and farmers cat all can cause havoc!

We made it back ourselves no thanks to Ryanair! Great to meet our alte kameraden from Nord again and also new faces Masa(thanks for the beers) and the twins! But also the European crowd! Great company and lovely people! I believe Pauli's Gentlemans Drying Room, might be a staple of the reenacting scene though! Special thanks though to Frau Repper!

No better way to start the year!

I arrived home yesterday night at 11 pm after a Looooonnng travel and fell asleep directly.

We want to thank the organization for a very special weekend our entire group remembered forever. Thanks to Franz an especially Jutta for the way we were received in his home, we all feel like at our own home. And thanks to all the attendants to the event from the four cardinal points of Europe for his Kameradenschaft.
