New Multi-period event, south of England

Post by hanser »

Hi, Putting together a collective of Allied and Axis re-enactors to create a WW2 experience. Date is 29th June 2013 and its way down south. What I`m looking for is not groups as such but a complete mixture of uniforms weapons and kit. If you are a group with multiple impressions then I would like to talk to you. Looking especially for British, Italian, Russian, Finnish, Polish uniforms obviously with bodies in them and the knowledge to educate on that subject. Allied and Axis will be mixed together on the same display so we ALL work as a team. I will be accepting Pm`s but please forgive me if you don`t get a reply straight away it`s that bloody christmas thing on again....

Cheers Dave

we are still looking for italian, finnish, french and the more unusaul countries involved. German Luftwaffe units would be a bonus, heer and SS covered unless you re-enact a rare unit.
Please if you`re interested then pm me for further details, This is the 2nd year with re-enactors and is not your normal kind of show.
Keep sending pm`s you maybe what we`re looking for.

Already gone down that route, this is the same weekend as Bovington and Kev and the lads are tank tarts.... :)

I`m waiting for a budget meeting to see how much money i have to spend, the original idea included your lot but I`m still waiting for tank transport costs from `H` or John Webster?

Details on the event...

Chalke Valley History Festival, Nr Salisbury Wiltshire. 29th/30th June 2013. The event started off as a historical book festival. Last year the organisers decided to use re-enactors to work as visual aids inconjunction with famous authors who were giving talks to the public. This worked so well that budgets have been increased and bigger and better attractions are planned. trust me when I say that if the air display that is planned actually happens you will be blown away. This is a multi period event and there is only 1 WW2 display which I have the pleasure to organise. The event is sponsored by the daily mail newspaper and Waterstone books. The location is a beautiful valley in the south of England which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
There will be a ww2 budget which I should have confirmed early to mid February. What ever the budget, this will be shared equally with all who attend. This is not a Das Reich event and Any members of our group will get the same share as everyone else. This is about supporting a fantastic event not a money making exercise.
Arrival at the event can be friday 28th or saturday morning. We re-enact 10am to 6pm on both days, if you have long distance to travel home then you can stay on the sunday night for monday travelling home. You will be encouraged to mingle with the public in character up to 10pm when the last author finishes. There is a beer tent thats probably better than most of the pubs I know. Food is available but hopefully we will have a field kitchen and we`ll be cooking all day as part of the display. Allied and Axis re-enacting, eating and having a few beers together....lets hope its a sign of things to come.

Just a quick update, I now have a healthy budget for us re-enactors and have been informed that there will be a 75 minute air display including ww1 dog fights with firing machine guns plus a WW2 dogfight with 2 spitfires a hurricane and one very outnumbered ME108. smoke effects and victory rolls and a bit of ground straifing ( i think i spelt that right). This event will be a sight to see and fun to be involved with. Lots of vehicles already booked and if the main organisers can secure transport we will be bringing in the heavy armour as well. we thought last year was a cracking event but this year will not only blow the public away but the re-enactors too.
more to follow......
