NYMR (Levisham Station) 2011
Firstly, apologies for the late posting. I have been a bit busy!
The Levisham display, as part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway “Railway in Wartime” event takes place on the 14th-16th October.
This year we’ve gone a little left field…….
Premise: “Operation Vengeance”
Levisham station is converted for the weekend of the 14th-16th October to a continental (French) railway station in the year 1943.
Typically stations of this type would have little or no occupation presence.
The premise of the display is:
German scientists supported by a Luftwaffe unit, protected by elements of the Wehrmacht are setting up an experimental rocket site. This is the precursor to the employment of the famous V-1 (doodlebug) rocket used in the bombardment of Southern Britain.
The employment of the worlds first tactical missile system
The V-1 is so named from the German “Vegeitungswaffe” meaning Vengeance
• A replica Walter 2.3 launch ramp complete with Fiesler Fi103A missile will be set up in the paddock. The replica is fitted with an engine simulator which will be demonstrated hourly.
• Scientists and technicians will work on the missile system and display this to the public
• Due to possible “resistance” activity, a security detachment is on watch at the station for suspicious characters. Regular patrols will be made into the surrounding countryside.
• PK cameramen and a film unit will record the event for propaganda purposes
• The station remains fully operational throughout the exercise.
Trains arrive hourly, allowing repetition of events and activities at each area.
Usual suspects will be attending, and I’m sure you all know who you are by now. If you are wanting to attend, but somehow we haven’t spoken, drop me a PM. Otherwise, call in during the day. We would love to show you round
All allied re-enactors please note, you are very welcome to visit us, but you will be disarmed at the station. This is to preserve the integrity of the display, so please co-operate.

One to tempt the taste buds.
Try humming the "Imperial March" from Star Wars while looking at it. I find it helps!

Re: NYMR (Levisham Station) 2011
Thanks for all the kind words.
This weekend, finish the wings and nose-cone, some detailing (control rods, access panels and such) and prep for painting. I'm praying for a good day for spray painting on sunday!
All the decals etc will be added at site. Got my top man making the templates (thanks Jock )
Then its a trial fitting to the Walter 2.3 replica ramp, some prop building and waiting for the start of the show. Getting a bit stressed as the show date approaches but, I'm pretty confident we will be ready!
