9/10 July Spanby Lincs NORMANDY CAMPAIGN

By popular request from attending groups (and John Oxlade availability) I have managed to book the site for a summer event based around the Normandy campaign. So hopefully the forest will be blazing hot and the jeeps won't have too much mud to get through to positions.
Scenario to be confirmed with Axis commanders.
We will be using more of the forest this time and a lot more construction work will have gone into place prior to the May Vietnam event so we can utilise positions that will have been in place.
After the first event and discussion with group leaders it is wholeheartedly agreed that this site has great potential for a more or less permanent mid - UK site.
As many event organisers will tell you though their biggest pain is no-shows and no calls.
It takes a lot of work and organisation to put on a private event and the more people who commit the bigger the outlaying commitments.

It has therefore been decided to ask for a non-returnable deposit of 10.00 per head.
I will be asking for these to be in by the A Shau event which is beginning of May - so don't rush out and do anything before Xmas!!!!
Group leaders liase with me on any problems.
I understand that there will always be genuine reasons for no-shows that is why I have tried to keep things as fair as possible.

Don't get me wrong numbers for the first event were fantastic BUT in order to utilise more of the site and for the scenarios/objectives to work successfully we need the troops to man them.
Many thanks to the groups and individuals who have continuously supported the old dukes and the new spanby - we have a great site for future use but only if we use it.
Please mark your interest on here and pm's as usual.
All the best
Chris

Can I just remind everyone to a: note yr approx numbers to me so I can allocate yr billet areas and b:get any weapons you may need hired from John Oxlade as he is very busy now. hireandfire@hotmail.co.uk
We aim to run the scenarios from early sat right thru til dusk personal weapons can then be used in any night patrols as before. Both axis and allies will have access to the FULL site and all bunkers/trenches etc therein.
Cheers
chris

Hello
I am new to this forum, so please forgive any mistakes. Spanby looks good, is it 2011 or last year?
I have been to lots of different world war 2 sites, Bastogne, Colditz, Halba, Poteau ambush, La Gleize, Hertegen Forest, St mere Eglise, Normandy Landings, Nordhausen, and many more.
I would be interested in attending some of your reenactments.
Can you let me know what venues you have this year. And also, how to meet like minded people.
Thanks
Private Schulz

Ok just managed to get over the AWESOME Vietnam themed battle at this new site and we will be continuing to improve the site bunker/trench systems for our WW2 battle in July!!!
So far We have the usual suspects in attendance!!!!The scenarios will be free flowing and if it goes down like the A Shau event expect some serious battling for a long period!!!!
As usual names on a V card to me (groups and individuals)
Cheers
Chris
