Burton On Trent

Post by Gunter »

Here we go. The Burton event was a one-day show spread of two days, one of which was to set up the display and then take part in a photo shoot with Smudger. The canvas tent was quickly erected and the camo net was draped over it. I put up a zeltbahn tent alongside while Emma, Golly and Mick busied themselves filling some sand bags for the MG42 position. Mick set up the radio in the entrance to the canvas tent. We then got into uniform for the photo-shoot. This centred mainly around the steam locomotive that was next to our camp. The results of this can be seen elsewhere on the forum, again big thanks go to Smudger was doing the photo shoot. We even had one of the carriages to get changed in and for some to sleep in later. We had a barbeque at the campsite and we left how calling card of singed grass when we left it.

Sunday was the main event, so it was into kit to await the massed hordes of public! We even took part in the 1940's fashion parade (well Alex and myself did) as soon as we stepped into the marquee for our turn we were booed! Luckily it was just for fun!! Neil was awarded his cuff-title and Golly his Russian Front medal.

We even seem to have made a few more contacts show-wise.

The show, though small, as a lot of potential and we should be back there next year for a possible two-day event.

If anyone has other stories to tell please add them to this thread.
