Yes, two years ago they were more laissez faire about helmets - but now they're not.

Customs won't actually confiscate the helmet - the very worst thing they can do is just say you can't take it back out, and reality, although they can do that, it's very unlikely that they would.

Anyway, it's easily solved, just ask ahead to borrow a helmet from someone there if you're worried about it. You're going to be borrowing a weapon from someone anyway.

Hiring huh? Interesting - that's a newie. I wonder who's doing that?

Anyroad, there's a big difference - if they confiscate it, they physically take it away from you.

If they say you can't take it out, then you at least have the option leaving it with someone who's gone up to the border with you to take it out another time.

When I went 3 years ago I took my repro helmet with me in my suitcase and nothing was said at all. I was bloody glad to have it on when the ground shook and shed loads of mud and ice the size of house bricks flew up in the air. I will be taking mine again painted up off white with a bit of mud to make it look the part. I would stress that anything original would be classed as war booty and can be taken off you without much luck of getting it back.

see you in the snow
Dave

I achieve this with the aid of magic beans - given to me by a kindly babushka who lives in a crooked izba outside Krasnodar.

wey hey
back from the cold winter depths of st petes

wow had a great week with the crew
many thanks for looking after me and jon and andy
was cold ...brrrrrr

loved it as allways
battle was a little quiet .due to the two and a half foot of snow
yes 2 and half

therefore pyro was a dull thud
but it made a soft landing for when we fell

oh and the snow diving... :D

it was well into the minus tens when we got to battle and the ammo was literaly sticking to ya fingers if ya didnt have gloves
bair had an ice moustach .. and ice was forming on our beards
but loved it

yes good point
whilst not showing the lack of health and safety ..the battle went off with great expertise
they sure know how to keep in side the health and safety aspect and also keep to the authentic ways.
as in not all wore helmets
the weapons where a little used as we can say ..but using a 1928 mosi was a bit of an experience.
some nice hardwear on show too with some superb quality mp38's and some great kept mp44's
all origional
what i did notice was the lack of perfect kit
as in all they could find in russia to keep ..as we all know you can find ww2 kit off the fields ...but not all perfect condition ..did see lots of verry well used weapons
and some verry well pitted mp44's
but still able to fire
good on them for keeping em in as best condition as possible

Thank God for the UK Proof System then Les...... Having years ago seeing the results of an out of proof shotgun exploding I would NEVER fire a suspect weapon. No matter how tempting.

i understand what you are saying paul

can i add that i myself would not have fired the pitted 44's
i must also add that from what i could see they where using em as props
what i meant to say was the good condition weapons where the ones i did see fired.

sorry for the confusion
