Allgemeine SS at war and peace

Post by les hearn »

hi
not sory to say this
but

on one of the nights at beltring
i was one of many who witnessed some chaps wearing the black allgemeine uniforms in the beer tent
they where not from this country.

they where told by a well known reenactor that it is not allowed in the show
we also do not do this in this country
they tried to just look and not understand.........

i informed an official who told me if seen again the security will move em out

thing is
it seems like the group in question have come over just to show the wrong side of reenacting.
id like to say
they aint welcome here
i will personaly take pics next time and send over to thier police

this is not a threat but a warning.........after all they can still be prosecuted over there

we as many others have fought bloody hard to keep renacting ww2 german in the british isles

why should we face a possible ban from europe because of a few.... in my eyes ..neo nazi idiots who are hell bent on the wrong side of reenacting
in fact wernt reenactors at all

was it me or am i being over protective of this great ..for now "free" hobby

i dont want europe to get involved and close ranks on us here.
before any one comes back and says "they wont stop us here"
they can...only needs pressure from brussels

i might be making a few enemys now neil
but dont care
i care about the hobby

i care that we can go out and do what we want in the hobby without being stopped

but i dont want to be stopped by people who dont care

yes its history
tru
but we as a community have steered away for this side so not to cause offence even more than what we presently do
this i feel has helped us to the stage where we are excepted in europe now

i dont care what people may say
the people i saw where not here to reenact they where here for other reasons
simpy they couldnt dress over there in political kit so why should we let em here
if they want to reenact allgemeine ss then do so during the day
...at night no need ...we have all seen the uniforms before
no public in the beer tent
just us who have knowledge allready

...they wanted to make a statement .......maybe ........
"beltring full of nazi's lets go there"
...not so im afraid

I think the main point is that History or not, political uniforms are not welcome at W&P and should not be worn by anyone.

Les, Stig.
I agree with both of you. I told them that I for one disagreed with thier approach.
That the UK re-enacment community as a whole dosnt condone this sort of behaviour.
They didnt care. As they said "Tough"

They spoke to me I believe on Saturday afternoon outside our display, and were dressed in decent repro W-SS uniforms.
Both were fairly young, 20's I would say, and I have no idea what group (if any) they were with.
Never seen them before, but were definately British.

Perhaps someone out there can shed some light on this?

Then 'tough' would apply to them should they be spotted and removed from site for wearing such kit.
Or would they remove it because they wanted to stay on site more than they wanted to be tough guys?
Curious that you chose not to notify an official Neil? There were a few not far away from you all day every day? :D

Stig, as I said
they were dressed in decent repro W-SS uniforms
when I met them, and matter of fact told me they had been in the beer tent dressed in Algemeine the night before.
How could I complain about something that happened the night before while I wasnt looking, by two lads I didnt know?
For all I knew, they might have been having me on, or had been kicked out of the beer tent and bollocked already.

If they are indeed British, they will be known to someone on here.

If they were real Germans, then I have never seen them before,
anyway, here is what they look like, so they can be identified in future.

Where do you draw the line at political uniforms? W-SS, SA, SD, Allgemeine SS, SSVT etc
And that boys is how you take a penalty.

Isnt the bloke on the far right [titter], one of the ones pictured in another thread about 'nazis' at a railway event? I think he has a white tunic on in that pic. Might be wrong though.

Why anyone would want to dress up like that is beyond me , it may be history and in a beer tent just what point of history are they illustrating or educating anyone about ?
This just makes things hard for everyone , sorry gentlemen but I would not feel comfortable in your company.

I agree with Stig, he looks like the one in the picture wearing the white tunic at the railway event.
