Le Visham (NYMR 2010)
Thought it time to get this up.
Any and all Heer uniformed troops please contact me ASAP with regard to the display (limited space available so be quick)
SS types, we have some room, but not much (be like us, get an extra tunic! ) so get int ouch ASAP.
For those who havent tried this event yet, you are really missing something special (and different. DEFINATELY different)
The station is quite literally set in the most picturesque valley and is a historic time capsule (stuck in about 1910)
No pubs, shops or any distraction, just a one hour rotating scenario and lots of public to watch us and enjoy.
The French Cafe will be open during the day with French food, beers, wines and music.
Saturday evening is again catered by the station staff, three course French flavour meal with a free bar, music and dancing till dawn. (attending re-enactors only)
We are pleased to welcome "Confirmed Kill" to the station this year.
A 10 minute vignette featuring the ME109 will greet every approaching train
Pyrotechnics will be not quite as spectacular this year, due to complaints that some cows still arnt giving milk and local chickens laid 12 eggs at once then went barren for 6 months, following last years impressive displays by PD & Karl.
Scenario this year is similar to one we did 4 years ago, but I've rubbed a lot more funk on it this time:
Premise
Levisham station is converted for the weekend of the 15th-17th October to a continental (French/Belgian/Dutch) railway station in the year 1943.
Typically stations of this type would have little or no occupation presence.
The premise of the display is:
•A Heer Infantry unit is training in the area. This comprises a single platoon with support weapons.
•Due to increased “resistance” activity, a security detachment of Waffen SS is on watch at the station for suspicious characters.
•The station remains fully operational throughout the exercise.
(Incidental Axis Re-enactors who arrive not in combat kit can add a little window dressing)
Infantry Training Unit
A full platoon (30 men) of an infantry regiment have been posted to the area for training prior to returning to the Eastern Front.
They are encamped with no defensive measures
The platoon will be split into 3 equal squads.
Squads will be assigned an area on a 1 hour rotational basis.
Trains arrive hourly, allowing repetition of events and activities at each area.
Levisham Station
This will be decorated with period posters, all signs replaced with French signs. Tactical German signs will also be in the car park. Period music will be played through the PA.
Confirmed Vehicles in attendance
Replica KDF Type 87e
Kdf Type 82 “Kubelwagen”
DKW 350 Motorcycle
Replica BMWR12 Motorcycle
BMW-R75 Motorcycle Combination
20mm Rhinemetal FLAK38a (TBC)
