Huertgen Forest Private Battle
Re: Huertgen Forest Private Battle
Just a very valid point this site is unusual in the fact that all positions can be left for future events for a near enough permanent battle site.
This is a plus for participants as it means a little less work on site sweep on endex.
MOST sites would expect all positions to be refilled and left as you found it for H & S reasons and the fact that other people use these places.
Consider it a bonus that a general rubbish/brass/expended pyro is all that is required AT THIS SITE.
DO expect to refill your positions at other events. This is not the organisers rules but the landowners. The general rule of thumb is if you dig it/use it you have to fill it!!! I do know that there are a lot of guys both organisers and combatants who have been left to clear up after other groups who have left early - as a team it takes less time!!!
Anyway I,ve dug em all anyway so consider yourselves blessed!!!!
Anyway thought I'd point that out as we are truly lucky with this place.
I have a work party going down tomorrow (Sat) and I believe a German group is going down for a working weekend on 25th Sept together with Olive for the US
Not long down get your weapons booked in and please see the note prev on discounted heavy MG's
Thanks
Chris

Re: Huertgen Forest Private Battle
Got back from the working day today and we've dug an extra 3 positions. Here's some photographes of how the positions are taking shape. Apologies for the poor quality of some, they look 10 times better in real life.
Allied bunker, front and back.
Allied trench
Allied Front Line
Axis Trenches, 1 small foxhole and a slit trench where Chris is stood.

Maybe I'm a pessimist....
But that many people (and it looks like it's growing..) on such a little space, isn't that a "problem"?
Just asking... because I didn't see the site in realtime.

It's not the Dukes Covert site, it's Spanby Wood, 70 acres. I've not seen it but reports from lads in our group say it's a HUGE site, no worries about space.CDB Schmidt wrote:Maybe I'm a pessimist....

Its a NEW site of over 70 acres and it is huge and we are only playing with one half of it!!! So plenty of room to get lost especially if I open it out to the other half which I may well do considering numbers and how it goes on my working weekend this weekend!!!
martin there are firebreak tracks that will allow access to most areas of the site I,ve had a jeep up there and it was enough for me just to use for getting from rear to front lines and maybe a bit of recon up to you mate.
Scenarios will be posted up after this working weekend please print these off as it will give the pyro timings etc (and these are huge)
Keep the communication going. Any querie pm or phone me 07971560249
Also I still have discounted MG42s for groups @ 150 quid incl 400 rds ammunition BOOK with John otherwise we will walk right on through you and onto Berlin!!!!

Re: Huertgen Forest Private Battle
Many thanks for the quick answer....
Was wondering because we have to make a long trip
Give me a MG42 and after a little while you'll hear: "Pretty boy.." (Dukes memories)
Than you feel yourself slowly going to the ground, the bright light shines and the only thing you have to do is walk to it....
FRIENDLY greetings from the Netherlands
