Fort Amherst ‘Operation Patrol 44’ / 26th 28th November 2010

Post by gasmask »

Fort Amherst ‘Operation Patrol 44’

This event is now booked for 12th-14th November 2010 and John Oxlade is the Armourer.

This event is strictly invite only, and we have already most of the groups who support this event committed to it.

The reason to announce this is, in the past we have had other events going on either side of it, so to avoid any clashes we have moved the date and posting it up on both forums so everyone knows when this event is taking place.

Das Reich members might be interested in your event if you have room for more Axis? Could you give us a little bit of information please? I`ve done fort amhurst before with just ordinary men and fjr6 and i know its a great site so i would recommend it to our group.

Just wondering if the Totenkopf would be invited? We were there in October and had a great weekend. Hope to hear from you.

Dan is already in the loop, and there was never any doubt that you would back in, for any further updates your group will let you know.

I'll be sorting the instructions for registration and the overall scenario over the coming weeks and will forward them to heads of sheds for distribution to attending members. Unit heads will be solely responsible for keeping your members informed this year. The registration and payment process will be alot more stream lined you'll be pleased to know.

Just to confirm :

1. ALL troop information, attendance enquiries / applications and field information should be directed to Earle.

2. ALL site information, billeting, registration and event logistics should be directed to myself (Chris)

3. ALL weapons hire enquiries and bookings must be done direct with John.

My devious mind is already starting to turn over with ' cunning surprises ' for this year.

Comprehensive event instructions & briefing notes have now been sent out to unit commanders who will pass this info on to their unit members.

Sam Harris is now confirmed as Allied Commander and we know he's going to do a great job again.

Axis commander tbc.

Earle has been inundated with emails and although the event is in November; there have already been firm commitments from a number of groups, including a number of units that have not been to the site before.

This is certainly already looking as though it's going to be the largest one we have run to date.

We would like to operate allied and axis field aid posts, something that we haven't achieved as yet, with medics also going out with patrols. If you or your group are sani or allied medics then please do contact us as this will be a superb opportunity to undertake your roles 'for real' in battle conditions.

Those who have been to the event before then this year will be the most challenging one to date. Forget what you already know about the site .... there are cunning plans afoot to completely dis-orientate you ;)

Further updates will be forthcoming in due course.

Date Change to this event !

We felt it inappropriate to hold a battle event over remembrance weekend and have, following consultation with unit heads, opted to change the event to 26-28th November.

So please inform your members and update your events lists.

Copied this from the other forum.

Gents

Myself and Earle had a site recce end of last week. There has been some major, jaw dropping, clearance work undertaken recently which has seriously opened up large areas that you will not have had previous access too due to the dense foliage and safety issues concerning concealed wall edges. Indeed. There are some sections of the fort that, since the clearing, I have not seen myself in 30 years!

In addition. I have secured a large section of MoD terrain, that boarders the fort, which will also be brought into play that will bring a new aspect to the event and will most definately present it's own tactical challenges!!!

Planning is now in full swing and i shall email unit heads and field commanders fairly soon with updated information. This will need to be relayed to your subordinate commanders.

Jeeps, Kubels and combi's etc will have more accessability this year too.

All the best

Chris.

Just a short note mainly for some of the independents coming to this event who made inquiries about attending some time ago, and recently sent me pm’s

Yes it is very much on, it doesn’t get much press on here because it is an invite only event, and all the info and updates are sent to the group leaders via an e-mail loop.

There is a very good reason why it is organized this way, and anyone who has been to the fort will see the common sense in that decision.

So if you have spoke to me about this event and you’re not part of the main groups attending, send me a pm.
Posting this on the other forum as well.

That is correct, the previous date we were offered we accepted, then realized it would have fallen on Remembrance Sunday, and we felt it would be totally inappropriate to stage this event that weekend.

26th 28th November was the only other date available to us.

All group leaders have been contacted via e-mail. A statement to explain why was also sent.
I have asked the mods to lock this thread and remove it after a 10 day period.
