Sledmere House The Country House at War 27th/28th June

Post by MissDirndl »

Can confirm now that Axis bods are most welcome. the only thing is the pub respectfully asks no SS kit (I know, I know) in the pub and seeing as it's a nice pub and quite local to me I hope people will respect that.

The house sits in some beautiful grounds. There is a huge area perfect for displaying and my idea is to have a 'war walks' idea where people move along a track and therefore means you don't have everyone mixed in together. I'd love it if a group could help with a checkpoint and what we're really looking for is living history. Cooking, medical, homefront...no bangs, no battles just living history.

Here are some pics of the house and grounds, if you're interested and wanted a nice chilled (hopefully dry) weekend drop me an email (no pm's please)

No SS= no interest, at least on my part. About time we told these no ss types just were to stick air brushed history.

Did you actually read it?

SS welcome, only not in the pub which is outside the bounds of the pub. Hence not on Estate property. They are a public house they can ban whoever they like! Nothing to stop SS displays either staying on site for their own social or changing to go to the pub.

Blimey.....

So, we have a German Hospital unit confirmed, brilliant! Anyone else?

Also confirmed is a marquee on site, so there is somewhere for us to congregate if you don't want to go to the pub. Probably have some music on in there too.

Anyone else fancy it? Lots of views but despite the thread about Renishaw and providing an alternative only one reply on here...

You just be careful Spatie Kitfire that no miniature airborne types hijack this lovely venue from you to turn into an elite forces weekend

Good luck with it - Nice to see a new venue welcoming the Axis brigands!

Thanks both,

PD, I have an inbuilt loathing for small airborne types. :| Too far North for him though so no fear there.....

Nick, glad to have you on board. Hope some more bods can come along... :?

Thanks Mark, reg forms going out after March 20th.

We'd welcome more Axis and indeed Allied....people whinge that there's nothing in the North and that Axis aren't welcome...well this ticks both boxes so if you fancy attending drop me a line.
We can't offer free train rides, but a nice weekend in lovely surroundings with mates.
