Passing this along from my beautiful Sunshine State!
Kelly

"The WWII Historical Association of Florida, along with Hard Rock Cycle Park, is pleased to announce the Liri Valley Living History Tactical Event for 2009. This historically correct event will have two tactical battles - neither should be missed!

Liri Valley will commence January 16th -18th, 2009.

Those whom have seen it cannot believe it's Florida! The setting is in a mountainous area, well wooded with rock faced cliffs, two lakes and a suspension bridge. This is NOT a public spectator battle and is open only to reenactors and WWII vendors.

For detailed information, please take a moment and look at our website! http://2ndrangerbattalion.org/liri.html

REGISTRATION. For Reenactors Preregistration ( $30.00) is available until December 31st. $35.00 at the event gate. A valid photo ID and proof of age will be required for all participants.
For Vendors $35 until December 31st, $40.00 at the event gate

For any questions or concerns please contact Scott Campbell at Campbells66@verizon.com or Sam Howell at showelliii@cfl.rr.com

Thank you, and hope to see you and your team in The Valley!"

Another event in SW Florida...
Kelly

"3rd FJR will be hosting a WWII tactical “Road to Messina” at the same location (Camp Flying Eagle in Manatee Co. )with the same dates Feb. 27-Mar. 1, 2009. More information about this new never before seen tactical will be posted in a few days.

I apologize for any hardships people may have endured and hope that we can pursue another Vietnam event in the near future for re-enactors to enjoy.

Eastern Front Event in Florala, GA
Kelly

"Operation Winters Storm - April 17, 18 & 19, 2009
Eastern Front
April 17, 18 & 19, 2009

Registration: $20 This includes a Saturday night meal.

Last year's attendance for the Eastern Front event was over 100
reeanctors with an even number of Russians and Germans.

Calling all defenders of the Russian homeland!!! The time to act is
now. We are currently destroying the German
soldiers in Stalingrad and the Russian army is in the process of
completing our encirclement. Once completed the
German army will be crushed and the war will be over.

This is a GREAT location. It is the same location as Operation Cobra.
That was a great event and we are excited to be having an Eastern
Front at the same location.

This a 300-acre site with wooded areas, open fields, groves, roads
and several abandoned buildings. This will be an
authentic WWII tactical event with the battles being fought in an
area that provides the opportunity for extensive
vehicle maneuvering as well as good defensive positions.

We have several vehicles already confirmed:

* A Russian T34 Tank
* A German 251
* A Lend Lease A M5 HST
* A Lend Lease M3 Scout Car
* Several German Kubels
* Possibly a German Sd.Kfz.222 armoured car
* Possibly some lend lease American jeeps
* Several German Motorcycles
* We are working on several fly-overs from a WWII Russian Yak

It is a great location for vehicles. All Russian, German and Partisan
troops are welcome. This will be a great time
so please attend.

Hello all,
Here are a couple of events that might interest y'all:
1. I have just been told that a U.S. Army reenactor group, portraying the 1st Inf. Div, is from my area. They are also members of the CMP and in order to keep their membership they have to have two shooting competitions a year. So they are having one Saturday, Jan. 21 in Pine Level, Alabama (the Pine Level just north of Prattville, not the Pine Level south of here towards Troy). From what I hear the competition is for Garands and '03s. All other reenactors are welcome with whatever rifles they want to briing and shoot. But only Garands, O3s, etc, can enter the actual competion shoot. I will post more when I get more info.
2. On March 14, 15, and 16th, a WWII reenactment at Grenada, Mississippi.
3. On May 9th, a WWII "Fly-In" of WWII warbirds at the Elmore County Airport in Coosada/Millbrook, Alabama. I can't wait for that! The same afore mentioned 1st Inf Div reenactors will be there too, I think setting up a display or Living History thing.

I don't have any more particulars at this time, but will post some when I get in touch with my buddy that is amember of that unit.
Later,
