Anybody spot the Military Policeman leading one of the squads too?

Film 4 made me really laugh, the British Soldier in some sort of desert-painted uniform and the Officer standing right next to him without a care in the world...

laughable

What I thought was hilarious was the guy with the mg42 on the rail car is messing with mg42 and there are yanks right beside the car and it's like he's invisable no one pays any attention to him like come on that's cornier than the old Combat series with Vic Morow the only guy I know that can throw a grenade you see land 20 feet from a machinegun nest and the nest blows up ....lol

I take it then that the holding-rifles-downward thing goes without saying? ;)

Gotta love how in #1 there's a German unit coming out of the trees, but as the camera zips left and right to take in the "action" you can clearly see Spams not only standing about doing nothing, but one or two look straight at the camera.

I know where it's from... and it's not meant to be a "proper" battle or completely historically accurate, etc. It's a show, for entertainment purposes mostly and to raise money for the museum. That same train museum does Wild West "shows" (among others) and Halloween rides all to raise money for the museum which they do. It's something that's improving over the years (the acting, the skits, the people allowed to participate) and no, it's not perfect and yes, plenty of farbiness, but they are working on it. It's meant to be "Hollywood" O.T.T. and somewhat humourous. A lot of things/people are in full view otherwise the paying public would not be able to view them as they are meant to.. You may also not realise, but the 40's scene did not make it back "in" over here and some folks just wanted to participate and try to fit in without knowing fully what's appropriate...all for fun, not to be scrutinized and ridiculed. Some of these folks only do this once a year and again, for the purpose of having fun, having a laugh and raising money for a good cause. The veterans and the rest of the public, old and young, thoroughly enjoy themselves and it then afterwards gives opportunity to educate, in a more serious manner, other Americans regarding basic WWII information, which sadly many do not have a clue. So, that being said, cut us some slack, won't you?
Regards,

Kelly

With no offense meant to Kelly or the Von Kessinger express event, or the state of Florida as a whole

That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. and PLEASE don't take that as a representative of the American reenacting scene as a whole.

None taken, Marc. Nor is it a true representation of re-enacting in Florida. As I tried to explain, it's a scripted show with admitedly poor acting (some on purpose); it's not like we have the time or means to rehearse it and much of the timing depends on the train itself and managing to get the Allies in position again by the time the train stops. The "Resistance" are not actually meant to be executed at the end for instance, but rescued...if the timing is off there isn't much really for the Germans to do with them between the stopping of the train (it's the end of the track) if the Allies do not arrive in time... they have to keep the scene going and you can only "threaten" to execute people for so long before they have to follow through. There is another show following closely so the train can only stay there for so long before it has to reverse and go back. This entire thing takes about two and a half hours with boarding, stopping for scenes along the way up and then riding back and again, it's a Hollywood style show that believe it or not usually sells out all three shows over the weekend.
