A few years ago, i acquired a copy of Kreta,Seig Der Kuhnsten, an original book about the German victory in Crete in 41.
I was under the impression that it was fairly easy to come by, until during a visit to the island, i met and spoke with an Fallschirmjaeger veteran who told me that he had a copy of this book, and that there were only 400 copies.
Thinking he was wrong, i didn't give it too much thought, until i chanced upon another copy of the book. However, this one was different in that it had a camp cover. Mine had a plain, marble like effect instead. The content is exactly the same in both, however, the covers are different. since then, I've looked for other copies with the plain cover, to no avail. All were camo.
So, can anyone shed more light on the plain covered book? Is it indeed a more rare example of the book? Or, am i talking bollox…?
Must add, i did post on WA ages ago, but there was less than no interest and my question went unresolved. Seemingly, if its not shiny and metal, its not worth discussing.
Anyways……

Re: Help with book ID?
I had a Google last night and of all the copies I found, ancient and modern, only one old copy had your plain cover. That sold on a German auction site a couple of years ago. It didn't seem to fetch more or less than the Camo copies though.
Re: Help with book ID?
First off, thank you!!!!! Mega interesting to know of another copy out there. Up until now I'd thought mine might be the only one.
How long ago was it sold? Mine isn't mint, but it's all there. There are signatures inside, too.
that's great, cheers!
