Just one little addendum to this part of your very informative post Mariusz:

- there were former Polish citizens of Polish nationality involved in 'Einsatzgruppen' in the East or in collaboration within the area of Poland, mostly mixed with Ukrainians or Byelorussians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polnisches ... aillon_202).

Regarding the unit from link you have to remember that the sole reason for Poles joining it was a desire to offer protection for civilians against the wave of massacres of Poles in Volhynia committed by Ukrainians as it was only way to posses larger numbers of arms at that time.
