would love to see a german BoB, i just recently got my hands on BoB so i can now watch the whole series, I am sure there are plenty of us out there that would jump at the chance to portray our units in such a film.

I just bought the movie in Blu Ray today... wow! Fantastic stuff! 270 minutes of pure history!

A must buy for everyone, even the girlfriend who hates this stuff...liked it!

Nope, sorry, German only and no subtitles.

It's still worth it to buy it just for the action scenes and not understanding what's going on.

But for Germany...it's one of the most expensive DVD there are, €20 for blu ray, €18 for regular DVD. As apposed to the Hobbit which also just came out and goes for €12 DVD, and €14 Blu Ray

There's talk of it being released in the US (So they'll have to do subtitles at least) but Hollywood seems a bit sceptic.

The Poles aren't happy about it because it bashes on their "Hero" partisans and even a fair few Germans aren't happy because it shines a "Humane" light on the whole thing...but if we discuss that...we'll go into ppolitics.

But I bought mine in Germany when I went there this weekend...I guess the Germans (when selling in Germany) don't expect English speakers to buy their movies...

Frustrates me here in Switzerland sometimes...movies are often available only in German...especially on itunes....me want original version!!!

I guess, it's an illegal one, translation made by some amateurs just when the film was out.

Suppose you're right Arthur ! The scenes in B.O.B and PACIFIC, and of course STALINGRAD were second to none in SFX, but would the likes of Speilberg do it !? Should be done as far as I'm concerned as I think the German side is FAR FAR too understated, and sadly missed from history. Best army in the world !

Hi in the movie max schmeling the battles are set on Crete as max becomes a paratrooper the opening scene is all the paras jumping out of the planes then the battles that followed, not a bad film, uniforms not 100 per cent but better then some, you also see Mountain troops as well. kind regards

I thought this series was mediocre at best.

The far too few combat scenes were exciting to watch. However, the forced implementation of self-loathing by the Germans was very disappointing to see.
Ordinary foot soldiers seemed like grand strategists with Nostradamus like abilities.
The recreation of composure of the soldiers and army organization appeared so bad, had it really been like that, the campaign in the East would've ended in 3 months...
Corporal punishment was unknown in the Wehrmacht, if not prohibited (which i have read somewhere, but I cannot support at the moment).

Whatever, I guess I am in the wrong expecting a German front-line combat mini-series not a semi-Schindler's list self-kicking drama show.

So, watched it for the 4th time and still find it great. Even if you don't speak german, it's a must see.

I can't really agree with the post above, the combat scenes were good for the 4.5 hours, would love to see more, but in that case I'd love to see more of the movie in a whole. But the thing that they showed a lot was waiting, which is what Oberleutnant Winter says so many times that when one thinks of war they think of the battle, but it's really the waiting, and not having something to eat in the morning.

Sure it's a shame we don't see rara Germany, but some of the soldiers did show it. However if the movie was based during early and pre war, one would see a lot more of it. As for punishment...in the penal unit, yeah...they got it hard as they were considered criminals.
