Third Reich postage stamps

Post by Bill Medland »

As a dedicated Third Reich stamp collector of some 30 years, I wondered if anyone else shares an interest
in this collecting area?

These were the designs for the 1944 postal workers issue.
From the six, only the 6Rpf and the 12Rpf were adopted.
The other four designs were dropped because of the changing
war situation (Afrika Korps no longer existed etc).
This set is the only one in the world showing all six examples,
they were sold recently in Germany for a staggering 187.000 Euro!

A friend of mine has also been collecting for over 30 years. He has all of his stamps set out by date in one big book. Impressive collection, i was wondering how much his book would be worth now.

To a true collector his collection is always priceless, it is exciting to "hunt" for
a special stamp and then it is hours of entertainment to sort them out, while
reading up on the history. I have learned quite a bit about the Third Reich
just by doing that.

Kind regards.
