SUGGESTED ORGANIZATION OF A RAIDING PARTY

Typical Organization

A typical organization for a raiding party consists of one platoon ,reinforced by one heavy mortar squad and one pioniere unit.It is assumed for this illustration that the raiding party will be gone for two days

Total Personnel, Weapons, and Hand sleds
  • 1. Officers = 1
    2. Noncommissioned officers (NCOs) = 7
    3. Other enlisted men= 58
    4. Rifles = 23
    5. Semiautomatic rifles (With telescopic sights)= 14
    6. Pistols = 13
    7. Submachine guns = 16
    8. Light machine guns= 3
    9. Heavy motar = 1
    10. tripod for Heavy machine gun= 1
    11. Hand sleds = 13

Platoon Headquarters
Personnel Equipment and weapons

1 Officer (leader of the raiding party) = 1 submachine gun pair of binoculars 1 lensatic compass
1 NCO (assistant platoon leader )= 1 submachine gun pair of binoculars 1 lensatic compass
4Messengers= 1 submachine gun 1semiautomatic rifle With telescopic sight,2 rifles1 very type pistol with signal ammunition 2 light hatahets



1 Medical NCO = 1 pistol pair of binoculars 1 lensatic compass
2 First aid men= 2 pistols
2 stretcher bearers= 2 rifles

Other equipment= 1 hand sled with 1 heavy machine gun tripod for mounting light
machine gun as heavy machine gun, 1,200 rounds of ammunition
in belts,1 spade

1 hand sled with 2 pairs of spare skis poles,repair kit aluminum ski tips,spare bindings,collapsible lanterns 1spade and rations

1 hand sled with medical equipment and reserve ammunition
1 hand sled for transport of wounded

Second and third squads
The 2nd and 3rd squads are made of the same make up as the 1st squad

Wristlets and Knee protectors
Woolen underclothing
Ski and ski poles

Rations 1½ days (additional rations for one-half day on sled)

1. Dressings -Muslin bandages ,Medicated compressed gauze pads,elastic bandages,wire ladder splints
2. Medicines- stretcher bearers kits antifrostbite ointments ,dextroenergen,pure Dextrose,Pervitin
