Habe die Ehre, Kameraden.
I am a new member in here and I am not at all experienced in discussing in a forum.
So please be tolerant with me.
May I introduce myself:
I was a German Gebirgsjäger some 20 years ago, living now in Switzerland and work as a carpenter.
6 months ago I started collecting SS-GJ-stuff because of this lovely "Gaissmair"-site.
A week ago I read about your "Project Edelweiss" and was fascinated.
I think about attending the walk but need a suitable Windbluse.
Thought about letting a taylor friend making one for me.
But saw that you were also in the middle of such a project.
I found out that the riri zipper firm does still exist only some 40 km away from me:
http://www.ririmayer.ch
And I found a marvellous fabric for doing a good working retro Windbluse: EtaProof.
Etaproof has extensive use for outdoor clothing, raincoats and accessories, as well
as clothing for fishermen, hunters, riders, cyclists and even polar territory explorers.
It was invented in England during WWII and is now produced in Switzerland.
It is made out of pure cotton, comes in very natural colours and different weights.
That sounded very convincing to me!
http://www.stotzfabrics.ch/de/etaproof.html
So maybe I could deliver your Taylor with the material if you like
or you may help me with a pattern.
So far for today

Servus Jäger Hinterstoisser und Bergkameraden,
Just picked up another original 2-pocket Windbluse and I'm waiting for it to arrive. What do you guys think of this version?

A nice original!
It's a bit to long, don't you think? I would go for something like this but a bit shorter.
Any news about someone making them for us?

Re: Pre-/Early War 2-Pocket Windbluse (Anorak)
I know of a seamstress who is heavily involved in historical reproductions and alterations/repairs of clothing, who I have spoken to about making these if someone is wanting to have them made still (?).While there`s many on here who don`t know me well enough, I`m serious in this post to try to help having them made.
While photos/drawings are all well and good she`s of the experience that having one to hand to examine is the best route. If anyone who wants to go down this path then I`d be happy to give you contact details for her, or send her photos etc so she can give an approx cost etc. Of course sourcing the correct material and fittings/zips is something the learned folk on here could help with ?
Any interest ?
Regards,
Keith

Grüß Di' Bergkameraden,
Just finished talking with my friend Rick from Hessen Antique about this project. Unfortunately, Chen in Hong Kong is moving his factory and won't be set up in his new one until May. So going through them is out of the question for our July event.
Dan and Keith...do you think your tailor friends could make a batch for us by July??? What would be their price for these??? Can they work from photos or would I need to send one of my original anoraks??? Let me know quickly.
If anyone one else has ideas to getting some of these made, please post them.
Berg Heil und Horrido!

Re: Pre-/Early War 2-Pocket Windbluse (Anorak)
I`ve already given the lady in question the link to this forum and posts. I`m aware that time is of the essence, and not wishing to `step on anyone`s toes thought it may help that I know of someone who could be the person to put these together etc.
I`ve read what Dan`s written, and if that`s the correct materials/design etc I can ask the steamstress of the costs of producing these. She`s UK based and I`d be giving the website/company she co runs website/contact details to Heeresbergführer before asking for an example etc of whats needed if she cannot make to photographs etc.
I shall get back to you ASAP if she can do so and approx cost.
If Dan can source material and costs for that, the zips etc need sourcing, is there anyone who is looking/knows about these ?
There seems to be x 14 of us wanting these ?
Kind regards,
Keith

Hello all,
Just spoken to the lady in question. She can do them, but not until the end of May. If anyones still interested, I suggest we share ideas on getting one to copy, buy the material and zips, of which Dan as supplied the info you can still buy them. ( Sorry Dan, I`m not getting the PM`s sent to the inbox on this forum ,but as emails )
Over to you gentlemen....Thoughts etc ?

Re: Pre-/Early War 2-Pocket Windbluse (Anorak)
Grüß Di' Keith,
Thanks for all the leg work you've been doing for this project. If Dan can get the fabric and zippers that would be great. Dan also has the same Windbluse that I have and it looks to be in better condition than mine, so his may be a better source for the pattern. If the fabric and zippers can't be acquired, then we could go to a pullover type Windbluse with a drawstring or button front...these may be easier to produce. Also, a tan or white canvas sailcloth material should be easy to find in the UK.
Any other thoughts from the group???
Berg Heil!
