To give you an idea what our display was about...

Its near Leningrad, area of Volkhov river, early spring 1943.

The display is split into two parts by a downed russian airplane, lying partly under remaning snow:

Image

One one side you could see the jagers preparing their simple meal, camping, cleaning their gewehr etc. or guarding with what was possibly the fate of that airplane ;)

Image

On the other side, Russian soldiers are grouped together, having little to eat as the blockade persists, but still playing their balalaika (those are our friends that are a members of the same reenacting society).

Display above was build by Group which is almost 2 months old, so I knew that we havent got everything correct. Have You got some tips how to improve Our impressions, or something except rope that isnt correct ??

P.S. That Your friend Jim still makes those puttees??

Greets from Poland guys :!:

P.S.2 - Next week we probably do some photos showing overal impressions in professional photo studio for web-page so Ill post them ASAP so that You can judge them :!:
Grüß Di' Jäger Yuri,

Well...you and your Jägers have surprised me with a high level of "doing things right" and authenticity. You look like a typical mid- to late-war Gebirgsjäger unit with a good mixture of uniforms and equipment...too many people want "cookie-cutter" units were everyone looks exactly the same....just didn't happen in the reality of war.

I am very impressed with you indoor display. I can't imagine how long it took you to set this up! I'm looking at doing an indoor display the beginning of March and I would be very hard pressed to come up with such a fantastic set-up like you have done. I would surely recruit you guys into my unit if I could!!!

Did I notice a "Gams" badge on some of the caps? Can you post some photos of it?

Yes, my Oberjäger Pühle, still makes Wickelgamaschen for sale.

Ive got the same opinion about late-war units. "Cookie-cutter" units are good for september 1939 offensive heading for Lemberg, not for Volkhov river area.

The overall display was made from 9am to 6pm. So we build it in some 9 hours, but weve got some breaks when we must wait for materials so it tooks some 6 hours max.

Patrick - believe me or not - but im honored as hell :!: You and Your unit are "top-class" for me any unit-mates, and Ive often say to them "Patrick said this...", "Patrick said that..." so -

Kampfgruppe Edelweiss went to an event in Poland, where it took part in recreation of Italy'44 scenario, together with some falschirmjaeger against American and Polish troops (2nd Polish Corps, Carpathian Rifles). The group displayed our brand new tropical uniform elements as well as some HBT.

Just the very first impression photos, more to come:
