Morning all,

I thought i'd share some pictures from our most recent event - the Ostfront Private Battle which was held a few weeks back.

The weekend saw us up against the Russian 2nd Guards and working once again with our kameraden from the Panzergrenadiers. A healthy turnout from both groups was complimented by a nice selection of vehicles from both groups which led to the Axis forces being totally mobile bringing a whole new dimension to the weekend.

The event saw the debut of both the units now fully operational Skdfz.222 Scout Car and the latest addition to our collection of motorcycle combinations. We also welcomed our new Kriegsbrichter, Joe Ruddock to the group who shot many of the pictures in this gallery on period film cameras.

To see the full gallery, please go to:

Thanks,
Neil.

I added a new article to the site last night about group member Simon Garner and his project to build a replica Sd.Kfz.222 scout car.

To find out about the transformation from Range Rover to 222, please follow the link:

What made that show i think was that everyone was in it together, there were no sneaking off to a warm car or a tent with a snug sleeping bag, this was hardcore and a blanket on a lump of hay was your bed for the weekend in a cold draughty derelict building after the rats vacated it, all fun and games :) We Irish shacked up in Paul's (Hoffman) slum dwelling with wee Jock and Neil from Das Reich and many others all great craic and worth the trip.

Who's the guy on the right in the top picture, when i was taking that picture i noticed that he was close to loosing the front sight hood on his k98 so i pointed it out to him.

This was the moment the first shot was fired in the last battle on the last day which accidentally started the battle.
Big Duffs my mate asked me to fire a shot out the window so that he could take a picture, after i fired it all hell broke loose because the Russian's had sneaked up on the field opposite our buildings in the darkness without anyone noticing and when i fired my shot for photographic reasons in their direction they thought they'ed been compromised and fired back in Russian fashion.

That would be Karl.

I am third from right in my ever so larger days lol. Think ive dropped nearly 6 stone from that pic

Yes it was great to stay out rough. Cooking on esbits and sleeping on a cold concrete floor.

We had a fire inside and was over come by smoke that we could hardly see the other side of the room

We may have been lucky we had a hole in our roof that let the smoke out but i still think we were all still suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning during the night, big stig thought i'd died once

What bar do you drink in in Coventry? my favorite watering hole was the front bar in the Chase hotel on the London road during my time there in 1990-91. I was back in Coventry in January 2013 for the first time in 22 years for the funeral of an English friend of mine at the time, Darren Fagen (DAZ) died on drugs, did you know him?
