Glad you like the pics mate :)

The wools / greatcoat thing is something that's grown since the back end of 2007 and as new lads have come in we say get one of them instead of a parker which gives the group a more standard look as you can see in the pics.

The only real reasons for wearing camo is to cover cuff titles and GD insignia if we did'nt fit into a scenario.

As you know it's been on my to do list for quite some time now, but hopefully this coming year we can roll her our into the day light. As for the final paint job, defo early war panzer grey, in keeping with GD's general early war look.
Credit where it's due Sime - and it will be refreshing not to mention readily identifiable to see a Panzergrau Vehicle amongst the sea of Normandy Camo and Dunkelgelb.
Got any thoughts on a 20mm for her?......... if not you know where I am........
I've made a replica steel barrel and flash hider for the 20mm, but not put much thought into the main part of the 'Flak38' yet or how it will work? No reason why I can't make it run on .50Cal blanks....but that is expensive stuff to say the least!

www.gdrecon.co.uk - Mark 2!

Post by Walther »

Afternoon each,

Just to let you all know that Alex inspired revamp of the GD Recon website is now live and ready to have a look at.

The other has served us well, but after almost 4 years in existence, it was in desperate need of a revamp as it was starting to fall apart at the seams and there were literally thousands of files that had accumulated over the years taking up server space.

So, RIP mark 1 - hello mark 2 :)

For a look, go to:

http://www.gdrecon.co.uk

Let us know what you think ;)

I took some brief views but looks much more tidy and modern to me. I dont expecially like black backing (its so obvious for a 'Dark Side', would love to see 'green felt' as on GD epaulettes), but 'de gustibus non disputandum (est)'. Move in agood direction. keep it up guys ! Will look in more detail later.

The 2009 campaign got underway last weekend with a good turnout at the 'Breakout from the Don' private battle. As has been said on other threads, turnout for the event was fantastic and the combatants taking part looked spot on.

Fantastic weekend for the group and we really enjoyed ourselves fighting the relentless tide of Bolshevism :)

Also got the chance to bed down in a derelict building for the weekend, cook simple food on the Esbit, kip on straw with just a greatcoat and wool blanket to keep warm - nice to leave the cosy tents and camp beds behind and rough it.

There are some great pictures coming out of this event, but I thought i'd share some of ours - the gallery is now uploaded to our website and can be seen at:

Grusse Heil Frontschwein!
And a damned good start to 2009 it was! You will find a link on the pages of the AFRA website to your newly revamped website.
See some of you at Stoneleigh hopefully.

Bit of fun out in the snow the other day, it's funny- but I tell my kids to stop rolling around in the snow, but here I am like a big kid doing exactly the same!

Morning all,

A few of us took advantage of the Siberian weather on Saturday, got kitted up and had a roll about in the snow for a couple of hours.

No doubt more will follow as we sort through them all, but for now....
