WAR AND PEACE WEAPON SUPPLIES REGISTRATION

Post by Hoffman Grink »

If you can foresee a future requirement to hire Section 1 and Section 5 firearms as part of your re-enactment activites - You are now invited to register on the database at the following address
http://warandpeaceweapons.co.uk/
Registration is simple and once done you must remember to bring two forms of ID to your first event where you will be activated on the database.
Primarily this is for War and Peace but will be useful for other shows and training events in the near future.

Please pass this on to any relevant people who you think may make use of it. WPWS will be taking bookings from July onwards.

The following is for your information and may be ported unedited to other forums of places where people may benefit from reading it. It is not up for debate and is not negotiable - The Home Office issue Section 5 certificates under strict conditions so therfore this is not some tin pot re-enactor gone mad loon making up rules to piss other re-enactors off - This is how WPWS needs to be run to be legal, transparent and compliant with the requirements and recommendations under which the Home Secretary grants the licence. It is hoped that this post will clear up any misconceptions and put to rest any rumours, tittle tattle. jealousy or downright skullduggery that may be just over the horizon as a consequence of our involvement. AFRA is one thing - WPWS is completely another. Get that straight right at the beginning.
War and Peace Weapon Supplies requires that persons wishing to make use of their services register their details online, using a computer, on the database which will be maintained by WPWS personnel.

To register, the user first creates an account. NB - YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO DECLARE THAT YOU ARE NOT A PROHIBITED PERSON. PLEASE ENSURE YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS. IF YOU ARE A PROHIBITED PERSON, YOU MAKE A DECLARATION TO SAY YOU ARE NOT - AND YOU SUBSEQUENTLY HIRE A FIREARM AND IT EMERGES YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW - IT IS YOU WHO ARE CULPABLE. WPWS CAN ONLY ASK YOU TO SUPPLY A TRUTHFUL ANSWER.

The user then activates that account by means of an email sent to the address they gave initially

Once this is done, the user must provide a clear, up to date passport style photograph of themselves for identification purposes. This photograph must be of the user, bareheaded and in civilian attire. They must be facing the camera in the same manner required for a valid passport photograph. Any photographs not conforming to this or considered unsuitable will be rejected and the user removed from the database. The user may reapply but must conform to the requirements.

The user should then fill in the details requested giving their usual address and contact numbers.

TWO FORMS OF ID WILL BE REQUIRED.
One must be a utility bill with your name on it and the address you reside at.
The other must be an accepted form of Photo ID such as a Passport, Photo Driving Licence, Armed Forces or Police ID card.

NOTE - THESE MUST ALSO BE PRESENTED AT THE FIRST HIRING TO VALIDATE YOUR IDENTITY

What will happen after registration is that you will simply be able to provisionally book weapons for designated shows (at this time by prior arrangement) and when you present yourself to collect the weapon you will submit the documents for entry/verification. Your photo ID will be retained (unless it is a Police Warrant card whereby a passport or driving licence will need to be susbtituted) for the period that you are in possession of the weapon. The photo ID will be returned to you when you hand the weapon back.

As time goes by WPWS will refine this system to allow more functionality. You will, once validated and by arrangement, be able to prebook weapons for events and also pay for them online.

The reasons for this are simple. It is to save time at events. It is to make record keeping and documentation simpler. It is to enable more transparency for Police checks and to prevent firearms falling into the wrong hands. It is to make it easier for clients to register, book and make use of our services.

OK - Now - This is a new venture and the reasons for it are explained on the website. This is a professional undertaking and the people chosen to work for it have been done so because of the skills they bring to the table. This is being set up unlike any previous Section 5 hire business simply because War and Peace wants it done this way. The personnel involved are like any other employees of War and Peace and must be treated accordingly. Whilst at work no one is expected to suffer abuse, bullying, coercion or any other form of mistreatment. Persons wishing to make use of the services provided are welcome to do so and by signing up are agreeing to abide by our requirements and terms and conditions of business.

Our staff will do their utmost to ensure you are supplied with a quality product/service and that this is done within the law at all times. In return we expect courtesy and fairness in how our staff are treated. If the law says our staff can not give you charge of a firearm if they suspect you have been drinking then that is how it must be. If the law says persons under a certain age may not take charge of a firearm then that is how it must be. If a member of WPWS staff asks you to return a weapon for whatever reason you must comply. This is not our staff being petty. It is our staff being conscientious and protecting our business and your ability to make use of firearms within your hobby.

In short. Whether or not you have issues with WPWS staff, you have a clear choice. You register to use firearms on WPWS terms or you do not. If you do, then you agree to abide by WPWS rules and regulations (as required by the Home Office) and you will ensure that you follow them to the letter. If you do not then it is your clear choice and you have no more to say on the matter.

It is hoped that this brings to an end any ambiguity or misdirection. WPWS provides a weapons hire service for theatrical, media and living history use. Any person not barred from holding a firearm who may have reason to legitimately at any time in the future, make use of our services, may register themselves on the database in order to hire. If you have any questions or concerns about WPWS, its personnel or how it intends to operate - then please address those enquiries to enquiries@warandpeaceweapons.co.uk rather than debating uselessly in the public domain.
So there you have it. Plain and simple. You want to use the services of WPWS to hire a gun - Do so - you don't..... don't make a big deal of it. I find that too many people in this hobby think they have a God given right to have everything done their own way and if it doesn't suit they want it changing to suit them. Sorry but Rex wants things doing a certain way and we have made that possible. Register online. It's ENTIRELY up to you the customer. We are not here to wipe arse - that's what re-enactment group leaders are for. If it were AFRA then we would run about and see what we could do - That's why we run AFRA. Please make the distinction.
Oh - and it's NOT aimed at you Jon......... it's aimed fair and square at everyone. As soon as this goes public it falls victim to the usual cartload of bullshite that abounds....... People who don't even hire taking a pop at "rich men" - People who don't even actively re-enact seeing snags where there are none. Other people overcomplicating things and yet others actively trying to make our jobs harder. - I've read the forums....... and these days I pay little attention to them. What I can tell you is - Working for Rex Cadman we won't take any shit. And Rex won't be held to ransom...... Those who want to play will.... Those who don't - well they can go play elsewhere. We will provide a good, safe, legal service to anyone who will sign up and willingly make use of the services - and there are plenty of them..... What we won't do is piss arse around with people whose sole intention it seems is to make life hard for us...... Endex.

On a lighter note

Thank you to those registering - It is painless and simple - Please check that your photograph has uploaded.
Please also pass on to all your friends and colleagues who will need to register at some point - War and Peace - Headcorn etc. There will be many more to come and also some exciting new initiatives for Living Historians to explore.

Remember also to bring your Listed documents with you to your first event. We will need to see them to verify your details.

After Today's Meeting at the Hop Farm we have seen an increase in registrations. Thank you for this. Please remember however that we will be very busy at the show and persons wishing to register at that time may be unsuccessful due to lack of time or other limiting factors.
It is not our responsibility to register you - The system is such that you can register yourself quickly and simply.
Thank you.

Thank you to the many people who have registered to use our services. We must impress upon some of you however that at a show it will cause huge disruption if you decide en masse to register at that time.
For War and Peace – If you know you will be needing/using a firearm then we must stress that you must pre-register. Failure to do so will result in the likelihood that you can not pick up a weapon from us.

At the site meeting it was clearly stated – the ID cards issued in 2010 were a temporary measure and are now no longer valid. WPWS were unable to transfer details of those persons on to the new database as we could have breached the Data Protection Act 1998 and there is a need to remain within the law (understandably)

In short – it is the user’s responsibility to ensure he/she is on our register BEFORE hiring/using a firearm. We will not have the facility at a major show to register people en masse. There may be an administrative charge made if we do have to register a person on a showground. You should therefore ensure that you are registered well in advance.

TO register – Go to www.warandpeaceweapons.co.uk
Click “Register”

Enter in the details it asks for – Password - Username (for those having difficulty with what a “non-alphanumeric character is – it’s one of the following !”£$%^&*() etc. i.e. it’s not a letter and it’s not a number) Email and a Security Question.
An email is then sent to the email you entered. (Please do not copy and paste your password into the verification slot – if you typed it in wrong the first time you transfer the mistake – that’s the point of verification)
You must click the link on that email.
After verifying your account with the link please log in and click the REGISTER link again, this will take you to an online application form, please fill this in and you will receive an email confirming application.
Once a passport style photo has been received we will activate your account.

It really is that simple.

All you have to do is CAREFULLY READ the documentation and nothing can go wrong.

WPWS is the most up to date, most sophisticated and most professional Section 5 RFD in the hire business at this time. We are part of the War and Peace Brand and despite critics, that brand stands out as one of the best out there in this field. We will provide a one stop solution to your firearms, pyrotechnic, event management needs should you require it and we will do this using modern technology to good effect. To be a part of it all you need to do is buy in to it – Register and then use the facilities. No fuss, no bother. The system is simple and help is always on hand should you need it.
