This fez is my production just like Berghuehrer's bergmutze. Here are better photos (before adding insignia):

I like the color on this one; looks like what I can tell from period photographs and footage, of the feldgrau fez used by 13. SS.

Greetings
Here is some pics of a Handschar Soldbuch :D
This Soldbuch belonged to a Sanitas/SS-Rottenfuhrer
who was later promoted to SS-Uschar.
His name was Willem Hinko which was changed to
Willhelm Heinrich to make it sound more Germanic.

Gruss gott :D
Here's another pic of my Handschar tunic, this time with
camo smock and Fez added, the rank at the time was
SS-Jager.
The Fez came from Bodrum (Turkey) when i went there
for a day's excursion from the Greek island of Kos last
year and cost at the time 4 Euro's

And your point is...? They have many books concerning the subject otherwise they don't come to such conclusion and the persons who made the conclusion are owner of original Handschar pictures and militaria. An other strong point is that one of them interviewed 4 veterans: one officer and 3 enlisted. The officer thold him he got 2 red fezes and he could get a green one if he needed one, but never did. The 3 enlisted thold him they never got red ones.

Um, chill out; I have many references on foreign units; and there is, I repeat, ample period photography (AND film footage) of large formations of maroon fez-wearing Moslem Bosnian Handschar personnel. This is seperate and distinctive from the feldgrau fez photgraphy and footage. I have no idea who the veterans are who you mention, BUT it really depends on the TIME FRAME they were posted to 13. Waffen Division der SS "Handschar". If they meant "no maroon fezzes" in FIELD use, I would humbly concur with them.

I have not seen a single enlisted man wear a maroon fez and I've collected 95% of footage and photos on this subject over the past 7+ years.
You're probably confusing them with the Ustasa militia, theyre the only ones that wore the red fez regardless.

The fezzes were issued at Neuhammer, Germany. The officers got theirs but rarely wore them outside of ceremonies and formations. Ive even seen officers wear the regular enlisted man's fez in the field. The enlisted men also opted to wearing the side cap they recieved previously during training but never the red fez.

Reenactors often try on other reenactors uniforms for a photo at events.....here I am as Handschar at Waltham Abbey in 2008.

Cheers, Bill.

Seriously, go with this officer's fez
http://www.villagehatshop.com/fez_black_tassel.html

they're not supposed to sit on top of your head like that. The sweatband should be about an inch from the eye brows, and almost touching the ears. If you look at era pictures you'll see how they were worn in over time. The sweatband area started to stretch and conform to the head, and the top stayed the same size.

The fez from the link is exactly in the same shape as those that were issued at Neuhammer in 1943. The tassel is easy to replace.
