Post by RudyWerner »

Does anyone have any pointers for the best supplier for O/Rs shoulder boards with goldenyellow piping?

R.A. Underwood. Just my humble opinion of course but I think you'll find most of the 'Das Reich' boys would agree with me. However (there's always a however!), the recent batch are not a patch on the ones he was selling a couple of years ago, still better than the rest of the UK competition at present though.

That's a shame, others and myself find him helpful. He did send me one pair with the wrong colour waffenfarbe in an order for 3 pairs. He sent the correct ones and I got to keep both lots.
How bad must your experience have been to have been 'very bad'?

Only the enlisted boards. And some select insignia.
The rest have been good.

But the enlisted shoulderboards, are probably the worst quality around. I had early made chinese boards that were better.

I'm shocked. All the sets I've had from him have been great. No shiny braid, nice mix of cloth colours with a slight home made feel.
What was wrong with the ones he sent you?
Perhaps I'm too easily pleased and need to raise my standards when it comes to these things, though all the chinese/sturm ones I've had have gone in the bin or been sold on?

Maybe I just got mine when he had really bad ones in stock.
But I got from two different shipments.

I traded them away soon after.

Do you have a photo of some of those you got? Then I can perhaps tell if they are the same as the ones I got.

I did some digging and found a set at Morigi, took some searching though.
I am going to modify them slightly by adding some original tresse to represent and unteroffitzier-anwarter. Should be a bit different...
