LOL yes, and I know it's all in the name of fun, but I have to smile when they all have "Hitlerjugend" around their cuff but I see so few Volksturm armbands! Ahhh....just remind me in 30 years to what I said here as I still try to pull off a young fresh Leutnant fresh from officers schoolrsvpiper wrote:IF you got rid of the fat 50 there would be vertually no one left Herr OberleutnantOberleutnant Ulrich wrote:20 "large" 50 year old men reenacting a "crack" SS unit.

I think we were reading the same thread on the WAF. It would appear Wool heer trapezoids did actually exist however they were on a very dark green wool and they all seem to be on very similar styles of m43 which have a different construction.
I'm happy to say they did exist however until any trapezoids on fieldgrey pop up I would suggest using one on very dark green wool...if there is any haha

Officers cap. I've seen a couple of others.Chris Pittman wrote:a wool backed embroidered Heer M43 cap badge, and a surviving original hat with this type of insignia.
Never seen a repro of the green wool traps.
They seem to be on officers caps also.
Re: Things you should never buy. They didnt exist.
Forgot to add that all known examples are on officer caps. All these caps have the same construction and slightly different silver wiring thank the standard officer m43. I will have a dig through on the thread again but I believe they said they were produced in France.

Its almost never on officers caps that you find the wool embroidered traps in re-enactment. Always enlisted.
Its not quite comparing apples to oranges, more oranges to satsuma.
I still maintain that the use of wool traps in the hobby is wrong.
Its like the use of Bundy helmet nets and Sturm splinter smocks or pea dot. We all know its wrong but see it every weekend.
Do these people just not care?
