Why this obsession with the Waffen SS in movies? Can't the for once use some regular Heer or LW felddivison?

That's what made Unsere Mütter, Unsere Väter so good. Normal Heer infantry. No elite, SS or specialty troops.Friedrich Köhler wrote:Why this obsession with the Waffen SS in movies? Can't the for once use some regular Heer or LW felddivison?

Do I detect a bit of the "Green-eyed monster" here?Friedrich Köhler wrote:Why this obsession with the Waffen SS in movies? Can't the for once use some regular Heer or LW felddivison?
Same sort of comments we still get here in the UK from the 'Hats' regarding the paras or marines who are seen as being an elite and always getting the high-profile operations.
Re: Props used in FURY
Not " Green eyed monster " geoffpara - just a bit of historical accuracy would be nice - as we all know , the vast majority of German soldiers on all fronts were members of the Heer , not the SS - and your comparison with modern " hats " and Paras/marines doesn't stand up - the vast majority of SS divisions by '44-45 were hardly " elite " ....but I digress....
